EMOTIONAL MANAGEMENT
For many of us, managing our emotions is quite the challenge at best. As children
we we were never taught how to feel or express our emotions appropriately. Males
especially were encouraged to bury and stuff their FEELINGS. Our parents were unable
to mirror healthy emotional states. For they too, were never given the necessary
tools to become comfortable with their emotional selves. As adults our emotions too
often remain stifled and unexpressed. Emotional outburst can arise unexpectedly,
triggered by inconsequential events. We can feel completely out of control, lost
in our pain. A sense of outrage can arise. Our buried emotions can cause suffering:
depression, sorrow, shame and guilt. Suppressed emotional mind states eventually
lead to imbalance and ‘dis-
Fortunately we are able to learn truly empowering tools, techniques and practices that help us feel, express and know our emotional states. Emotions are most important to our wellbeing. They give juice to all of life. Emotional states continually rise and fall cyclically. It is our responsibility to become aware of those cycles; to know how to recognize them; to discover what is causing them and to learn how to express them appropriately.
